The Cleveland Way

The Cleveland Way is a National Trail that runs 110 miles between Helmsley and the Brigg at Filey, skirting the North York Moors National Park. The trail also happens to run right behind the garden at Voebroch, and is a convenient way to walk along the coast for beautiful views and fresh air.

Runswick Bay

Runswick Bay is one of the Yorkshire Coasts most desirable destinations with its sweeping sheltered bay and charming red roof cottages. Runswick offers plenty of local restaurants to choose from, with over half a mile of beautiful sandy beaches. The Bay sits directly opposite Voebroch and is perfect for a day trip.

Sandsend

Sandsend is a fisherman’s town just a short ten minute drive from Kettleness. Sandsend offers a lovely beach, Lighthouse, and plenty of local restaurants. The seaside town is perfect for those who love walking and cycling, as well as anyone seeking a calm and relaxed environment.

Whitby

Whitby is a famous town known for it’s connections to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The town embraces it’s association with Gothic culture as there are plenty of unique streets, shops, and the Abbey ruins. The town has a variety of restaurants, offering fresh seafood with locally caught crab and lobster. Whitby offers multiple different activities for everyone, including sandcastle building and walks along the pier. The town is only a short fifteen minute drive from Voebroch.

Whitby Golf

For anyone interested in golf, there are multiple golf courses along the Yorkshire Coast not far from Voebroch. Courses include; Holeymolies, Whitby Golf Club, Stokesley Golf Club, Stokesley Golf Range, Wilton Golf Club, Kirkbymoorside Golf Club, Cleveland Golfclub, and Saltburn Mini Golf. These Golf Clubs are all individually owned and we advise to call ahead for details and bookings.

Whitby Abbey

Whitby Abbey was a 7th century Christian monastery that later became a Benedictine Abbey. Whitby Abbey is one of the most important religious centres in the Anglo-Saxon world. In 664 it was the setting for the Synod of Whitby, a landmark in the history of the Church in England. The Abbey overlooks the North Sea on the East Cliff above Whitby and is a lovely historic site to see.
